AMBOY — Vera A. Mason, 85, of Amboy, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2022 at Prairie Crossing in Shabbona. 

She was born Dec. 17, 1936 in Aurora, the daughter of Charles and Agnes (Wagner) Bastian. Vera had worked at Fantasy Flavors in Amboy for 10 years. She was a founding member of the Amboy Depot Commission, volunteered at the Depot Museum and served on the Board of Directors.

Vera married John E. Mason on Nov. 24, 1955 in Batavia. 

He preceded her in death July 25, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Louise Hargitt and Grace Vargo and one brother Elden Bastian.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at noon, on Tuesday Feb. 15, 2022, at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. Burial will follow at Prairie Repose Cemetery in Amboy. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. – noon, on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a donations can be made to the Angel Fund at the Amboy Veterinary Clinic.
