AMBOY – Rose Mary (Henkel) Theiss, 70, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2024, in Riverside, CA.
A funeral mass will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, September 26, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Sublette. A Celebration of Life will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the church hall. Interment will be at St. Mary’s cemetery in Sublette at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Loma Linda University Health by either online at lluh.org/giving referencing Rose Mary Theiss or Rose Theiss and selecting from the menu cardiology; a check payable to LLUH (reference Rose’s name in the memo) and send to the Office of Philanthropy at PO Box 2000, Loma Linda, CA 92354; or by phone (909-558-5010) if you wish to use a credit card.
A memorial bench will also be placed in Amboy City Park. For donations, please send checks to Les Theiss at 28880 Grelck Dr., Moreno Valley, CA 92555.
Rose was born on September 10, 1953, to Clement and Mary (Schmidt) Henkel. She graduated from Amboy High School in 1971. After her marriage to Les Theiss on June 11, 1976, she moved to Riverside, Calif. where she worked for the Press Enterprise for 33 years.
Rose enjoyed road trip vacations, birdwatching, gardening, holiday baking, and playing games. She was known to be a bit of a prankster. Her quick wit and cheerful attitude will be missed by friends, family and anyone lucky enough to have known her.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Charles Henkel; one sister in infancy, Louise; and her twin sister at birth, Rose Marie. She is survived by her loving husband Les; brothers and sisters, Delores (Keith) Beck of Tucson, Ariz.; Nancy Neal of Amboy; Paula Henkel of Salt Lake City, Utah; Mark (Tammy) Henkel of Sublette; Tim (Melody) Henkel of Amboy; and Carole (John) Day of Dixon; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
