AMBOY – Curtis G. Floto, 87, of Amboy, died Wednesday June 26, 2024 at his home.

Floto was born Nov. 1, 1936 in Rochelle, the son of Floyd and Helen (Vogeler) Floto.

Curtis had farmed in May Township and also worked at the Lee County Highway Department prior to his retirement in 2000. He was also a member of the Lee County Sheriff Department Auxiliary.

He loved his John Deere tractors and was an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs Fan. 
He married Dorothy Gascoigne on March 30, 1957 in Sublette. She preceded him in death on Feb. 24, 2015. He was also preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Clint Bonnell, stepmother Ruth Floto, and one brother Virgil Floto. 

Curtis is survived by one daughter Karen Blaine of Dixon, three grandchildren Rachel (Chris) VanHorn, Sarah Johnson, Jason (Kim) Kettley, seven great-grandchildren Katie, DessaRea, Owen, Bryan, Dalton, Ethan, Nathaniel, five great-great grandchildren Bentley, Isabella, Hazel, Xavier, and Lylah. 

He is also survived by two sisters Lois Russell of Amboy, Susan Cook of Amboy, two brothers Lee and Leo Bonnell of Amboy, sister-in-law Caroline Floto of Amboy, several nieces and nephews, and special friend Carla Russell. 

Cremation rites have been accorded. 

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2024 at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1:30-3 p.m. June 30, 2024 at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. 

Burial of cremains will follow at Binghampton Cemetery in Amboy. A memorial has been established to the Amboy Fire Department. Arrangements by the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy.
