AMBOY — Rory Herman Miller, 59, of Amboy, passed away, Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017 in a farming accident. Farming was Rory’s passion. He was a partner of M & R Farms, Dixon.

AMBOY — Rory Herman Miller, 59, of Amboy, passed away, Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017 in a farming accident. Farming was Rory’s passion. He was a partner of M & R Farms, Dixon. Rory was a CPA/CMA and enjoyed working seasonally at Wipfli for over 35 years, providing accounting and tax preparation services. His motto was “No Tax.”

Rory was born Sept. 12, 1958, in Dixon, the son of Howard and Edna Bell (Reid) Miller. He married Kathy Sue Eccles on Dec. 28, 1985 in Dixon. He was a member of New Life Lutheran Church, Sterling, and a member of Lee County Farm Bureau. Rory loved spending time with his family, the St. Louis Cardinals and traveling. The family was able to visit all 50 states together.

Rory is survived by his wife, Kathy, of Amboy; one daughter, Kelsey (Jake) Firkins, of St. Peters, Mo.; one brother; Dr. John (Sharen) Hillison, of Blacksburg, Va.; mother-in-law, Yvonne Eccles, of Dixon; one daughter-in-law, Jill Miller, of Oregon; and two granddaughters, Madelyn June Miller and Morgan Bell Miller.

Rory was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Reid Miller.

Visitation will be from 4 – 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, at the New Life Lutheran Church, Sterling, and from 10 – 11 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, at the church. Pastors from New Life Lutheran Church and First Presbyterian Church, Rochelle will be co- officiating. Private burial will be at Prairie Repose Cemetery, Amboy. 

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Miller family to set up a future college scholarship.
