AMBOY — Richard L. Geiger, 71, of Amboy, died suddenly Sunday, June 24, 2018 at KSB Hospital in Dixon. 

He was born June 23, 1947, in Chicago, the son of Richard J. and Sylvia (Weber) Geiger.

He had worked as a Claims Adjuster for CNA Insurance prior to his retirement. He had also worked at H&R Block in Mendota and the City of Amboy. Richard was a board member and volunteer for Teen Turf in Amboy.

He enjoyed horseback riding, bluegrass and folk music and playing his banjo. He was an avid reader and history buff. He loved automobiles and motorcycles. Richard was a lover of animals, especially cats, and spending time with his family.

Richard married Peggy Cummings. She preceded him in death.

He then married Joan Burghardt in Yorkville in 2002.

He was also preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife; children, Gena (Steve Reitmeyer) Geiger-Chan, of St. Charles, Brandy Geiger, of San Diego, Calif., and Erick (Christina Dozier) Geiger, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; step-daughter, Laura Morrison, of Amboy; three grandchildren, Kailey Rose (Sam) Kilgore, Ryan Korey Chan and Matthew Shane Geiger; one brother, Eugene (Beth Anne) Geiger, of Bolingbrook; and one niece, Amanda Geiger, of Tallahassee, Fla.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m., on Friday, June 29, 2018, in the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy with the Rev. Jack Briggs, officiating. Cremation rites will follow. Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 p.m., on Friday.
