AMBOY — Patricia A. "Pat" Burke died on Friday, Jan. 29, 2021 with her family present.

Pat was born in Geneseo, on July 10, 1946 the daughter of Dale R. and Lois (Ellenwood) Sherrard.

She graduated from Amboy High School, Amboy, and received B.S. and M.S. degrees in Business

Education from Illinois State University, Normal. Pat taught school in Atlanta, IL, Plano, Franklin Grove, Amboy, and Dixon. Pat was Kendall County Teacher of the Year and Nominee for Illinois Teacher of the Year during the 1972-73 school year.

Pat married William L. "Bill" Burke on Sept. 2, 1967.

She was involved in Pro-Life Action League, was an in-home volunteer for several hospices in the area for over 19 years and was an active member and volunteer at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Amboy. Pat was a member of P.E.O., Amboy Civic Organization, the Red Hats, and St. Patrick Women's Organization. Pat enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their events. She was a Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bears, and Amboy Clipper Fan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Gary and sister, Virginia Wachtel.

Pat is survived by her husband; her children, Brian (Danielle) Burke, of Geneseo, Julie Burke, of Bloomington, and Brad (Janelle) Burke, of Hudson. Pat is also survived by grandchildren Tamara, Emma, Andrew, Kaden, Kellen, Kenley, and Kaiven, Aubrey, and great grandson Ze'heir; sisters, Kathy (Tom) Whitney, of Bloomington and Beth (Marion) Deeds, of Champaign; sister-in-law, Patsy Sherrard, of Normal and brother-in-law, Tom (Stacie) Wachtel, of Lincoln. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews along with special friends Eileen, Darlene and Mary.

There will be a visitation from 4 – 8 p.m., on Monday, Feb. 1, 2021, with the Rosary at 7:30 p.m., at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. Services will be on Tuesday beginning with a 10 a.m. Prayer Service at the funeral home followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial

will be at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy. Burial will follow at St Patrick Cemetery in Amboy.

Memorials in Patricia's memory to Teen Turf in Amboy, and to the Rock River Hospice Home. The family of Patricia Burke would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Joe Welty for all of his support and to the nurses and staff at the Rock River Hospice Home.
