DEKALB — Leota Jane Carroll (“Lee” or “Corky”), 84, of DeKalb, and formerly of Genoa, died Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital.

She was born Dec. 8, 1936 in Amboy, the daughter of Herbert and Ella (Eisenberg) Halsey.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Genoa.

Lee married Donald William Carroll on April 29, 1961 in Amboy. He preceded her in death Feb. 4, 2019.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and brother and sister in law Robert and Carol Halsey.

Lee is survived by her four children, Sean (Tamara) Carroll, of Atlanta, Ga., Heidi (Bud) Wilkinson, of Churchville, Penn., Amy (Andy McRoberts) Carroll, of Dallas, Texas, and Christopher (Angie) Carroll, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; 13 cherished grandchildren, Hailey, Meredith, Reilly, Audrey, Liam, Daniel, Donald, Kristin, Cory, Dominic, Ella, Zakary and Janie; and her three great-grandchildren, Nora, Kaia and Miles.

She is also survived by her sister, Delores (Gerald) Gum, of Genoa, and brother, Terry (Bev) Halsey, of Amboy; and an extended family of 20 nieces and nephews (plus their families).

Lee would never want to risk harm to family or friends in gathering during these unique times. As such, if you feel safe to do so, please join to see Lee and Don finally put to rest together at Prairie Repose cemetery in Amboy, at 2 p.m., central time, Monday, March 29, 2021.
