OHIO – Leone W. Johnson, 97, of Ohio, died Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Heritage Health in Walnut.
Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m., on Friday, July 7, at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. Celebration of the Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, July 8, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Ohio with Father Hugh Anderson and Father Thomas Shaw co-officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ohio.
Leone was born Oct. 26, 1920, in Amboy, the daughter of Lawrence and Mary (Garland) Morressey. She was united in marriage to William H. Johnson on Sept. 20, 1941. He preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 1996. She was the cook/manager at Walton Grade School for many years. Leone enjoyed crocheting and was a great cook and baker.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Clare (James) Spratt, of Ohio; two grandchildren, Dr. Kimberly Serbe, of Decatur and Robert (Terri) Spratt, of Aurora; three great-grandchildren, Andy Serbe, Hannah Serbe and Ivy Spratt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters, Eileen Dunphy and Laneita Montavon.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Immaculate Conception Church of Ohio, the Ohio Fire Department and Gateway Services.
