AMBOY — James J. Ptak, 66, of Amboy died Tuesday, April 18, 2017 in his home. 

Visitation will be held from 1- 4 p.m., on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. Cremation rights will follow with burial at Prairie Repose Cemetery at a later date.

He was born in Peru, on April 26, 1950, the son of James and Norma (Ernenputsch) Ptak. He was a machinist at Conco Tellis in Mendota, then later employed by Plews Edelmann in Dixon for 35 years. He was a member of Island Lake Hunting and Fishing Club.

He was united in marriage to Isabelle Howell in Dixon, on July 21, 1975.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Andrew Ptak, and one brother Mike Ptak.

He is survived by his wife; children, Tracy Nodland, of Ottawa, Jamie Heiss, of Peru, Paula Richardson, of Amboy, Brandi (Joe) Dunphy, of Lacon; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jerome Ptak of Virginia, John (Pam) Ptak, of Peru; three sisters, Diane (Al) Brackett, of Utah, Barb Gorski, of Peru, and Mary Jo Burris, of Peru.

A memorial has been established with St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
