AMBOY — Earl S. Sand, 82, of Amboy, died Friday, Nov. 12, 2021 at KSB Hospital in Dixon. 

Memorial services will be held 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 17, 2021 at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.

He was born Nov. 8, 1939 in Chicago, the son of Carroll and Esther (Karlson) Sand. 

Earl worked as a tool and die maker for Borg Warner in Bellwood for 42 years prior to retirement. Earl served in the Army National Guard for over nine years. He was a member of the Amboy Masonic Lodge, National Rifle Association, Illinois Riffle Association, the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association, where he served as area representative and had also been a Boy Scout leader.

Earl married Carol Thies on Jan. 9, 1960 in Elmwood Park. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Roy Sand.

Earl is survived by his wife, Carol; children, Daryl Sand, of Amboy, Kye Sand, of Bolingbrook, Jerrod Sand, of Rochelle, and Rebecca (Lewis) Hess, of Yorkville; and six grandchildren, Brandon Hess, Amber Hess, Ashlyn Hess, Charles Hess, Marin Sand and Keaton Sand.

Arrangements by Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. 

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St Jude Children Hospital.
