DIXON — David L. Montavon, 76, of Dixon, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021 at Citadel Care Center in Sterling.
He was born May 9, 1945 in West Brooklyn, the son of Lawrence and Laneita (Morrissey) Montavon.
Dave was a life long farmer and had worked at Illinois Forge, Medusa Cement, Imeco and then for the Illinois Tollway Authority for 13 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of St Mary Catholic Church in Walton and the Dixon Knights of Columbus Council 690.
Dave married Carolyn Ann "Nann" Friel at St Mary Catholic Church in Tiskilwa on April 19, 1969. She preceded him in death June 9, 2021.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Sharon Brunett,
Dave is survived by two children, Brandi (Jim Pierce) Montavon, of Amboy, and Dominic Montavon, of Kailua Kona, Hawaii; one granddaughter, Riley Pierce, of Amboy; sisters, Marilyn Walter, of Amboy and Carol Finn, of Aurora.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, at St Mary Catholic Church in Walton. Cremation will follow with burial of cremains at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon. Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m., on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021, with a scripture service to start at 7:30 p.m., at St. Mary Catholic Church in Walton.
Memorial's have been established to the Alzheimer's Association and the American Cancer Society.
