AMBOY — Carolyn E. Johns, 77, of Amboy, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020 at Liberty Court Assisted Living.
She was born May 10, 1943 in Chicago, the daughter of Henry and Caroline (Manning) Gerdes. Carolyn was a Human Resources Director at the LaSalle Veterans Home prior to her retirement.
She was on the board of directors at the Pankhurst Memorial Library, and a member of the Amboy Women’s Club, Amboy Community Organization, Depot Days Car Show Committee and the United First Church of Amboy.
She enjoyed watching old television shows like Mash, and the Game Show Network. She also loved her "Grand-dogs" and was always ready to go to lunch.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Joan Haas.
She is survived by her sons, Timothy Johns of Dixon and Daniel (Kristine) Johns, of Dixon; brother, Henry (Cynthia) Gerdes, of Amboy; sister, Juanita Foley of Cincinnati, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Jaedin, Jaesen, and Jessalin Johns.
A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020, at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. Services will be at 1 p.m. following the visitation at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy, with Pastor Mark Glenn officiating. Burial will follow at Woodside Cemetery in Lee Center.
