Amboy — Anita J. (nee Tharge) Brandel, 61 of Amboy former many year resident of Carpentersville, passed away surrounded by family and all of the animals which she loved on Saturday evening, March 24, 2018 at the Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital in Dixon, after a long illness. 

Anita was born on March 19, 1957 in Chicago and was the daughter of Leonard C. and LaVergne Tharge. She was a former more than 20 year resident of Carpentersville and had been a resident of Amboy for the past 23 years. Anita was a 1975 graduate of Dundee Community High School and a former many year member of St. Monica Church. She had a loving and gentle spirit and was an avid animal lover and protector.

 Survivors include her three sons, Bill (Christine) Domalik, Harley Brandel and Mason (Kristina) Brandel; her mother, LaVergne Tharge; and her siblings, William (Nedra) Tharge, Rosemarie (Russell) Medina, Antoinette Medina and James (Pam) Tharge.  

Other survivors include her many nieces, nephews and friends. 

Anita was preceded in death by her father, Leonard C. Tharge on Feb. 3, 1996. 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. at Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee with prayers to St. Monica Church, Carpentersville for Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Windridge Memorial Park Cemetery in Cary. Visitation was held on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from 4-9 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.
