AMBOY – After a 25-8 record and playing for a regional championship, four Amboy girls basketball players were named to the All-Northern Upstate Illini Conference South Team.

AMBOY – With a tough non-conference schedule and a tougher slate of Northwest Upstate Illini Conference South opponents, the Amboy boys basketball team had a difficult season in terms of tallies in the win column.

AMBOY – Heading into the wrestling season, the Blanton brothers had two different paths but wanted the same finish.

CHAMPAIGN – Landon Blanton and Lucas Blanton wrapped up the 2023-24 wrestling season by participating in the IHSA Class 1A State Wrestling Tournament held Feb. 15-17 at the State Farm Center on the campus of the University of Illinois in Champaign.

OTTAWA – Points came at a premium for both the Amboy and St. Bede girls basketball teams during the IHSA Class 1A Marquette Regional Championship on Friday, Feb. 16 at Marquette Academy in Ottawa.

BYRON – The Blanton brothers have a ticket to the IHSA Class 1A State Wrestling Tournament after they each finished in fourth place in their respective weight class in the Byron Sectional on Feb. 9-10. The top four wrestlers in each weight class earn a bid to state.

OTTAWA – Senior Elly Jones remembers last year’s last game as the Amboy girls basketball team was the No. 1 seed in a regional and were upset in the championship to No. 4 Polo.

KEWANEE – The Amboy Clippers have been assigned to the Kewanee Wethersfield Class 1A Boys’ Regional Basketball Tournament to be played Feb. 19, 21, 23.

SANDWICH – Six Amboy wrestlers kept their season alive after the Clippers participated in the IHSA Class 1A Sandwich Regional Wrestling Tournament on Feb. 3.

The Lady Clippers locked in two victories on January 31, 40-12 over Fulton, and February 2, 58-13 against Milledgeville, while suffering a close defeat, 32-27 against AFC on February 3.

With the IHSA playoffs beginning February 19, the Amboy boys basketball team is running out of regular season to polish up its game.

OTTAWA – The Amboy Lady Clippers have been assigned to the IHSA Class 1A Ottawa Marquette Regional Girls’ Basketball Tournament to be played Feb 10, 12, 16.

The IHSA Class 1A Sandwich Regional begins for Amboy and the other 10 competing teams on Saturday, Feb. 3.

Milledgeville and Mendota were on the schedule for the Amboy girls basketball team for their last two games.

The Amboy boys basketball team lost three games from between January 24-29.

AMBOY – A lightning-fast start and then a furious second-half rally weren’t enough for Amboy as it fell to Mendota, 63-48, in a nonconference varsity boys’ basketball game on Jan. 20 at the AHS gym.

The Amboy girls basketball team split its two games in the third week of January as the Lady Clippers beat Polo, 42-30, Wednesday, Jan. 17 at Polo, and lost to Eastland in a close game, 48-45, Friday, Jan. 19 at Amboy.

ORION – The Amboy wrestling team ventured over the weekend to Orion for the Bob Miton Invitational.

Junior Eddie Jones scored 12 points, but it wasn’t enough for the Amboy boys basketball team as it suffered a 54-32 defeat to Forreston on Wednesday, Jan. 10 on the road.

After winning their Amboy Girls Basketball Holiday Tournament, the Lady Clippers didn’t want the tally marks to stop adding up in the win column.

AMBOY – After Ashton Henkel had finished fifth grade, his family moved from Amboy to Byron.

There was plenty of rest for the Amboy wrestling team as they hadn’t taken the mat since December 20.
