AMBOY – Pitching and swinging were working int the Amboy softball team’s favor against Ashton-Franklin Center in their Northwest Upstate Illini Conference battles Tuesday, April 30 and Wednesday, May 1.

ASHTON – There were many saviors on Thursday, May 2 for the Amboy baseball team on the road in Ashton, but the first one to leap off the box score is junior Eddie Jones.

ERIE – The Amboy boys’ track team has been assigned to the Erie Class 1A Sectional Track Meet to be held Thursday, May 16. Action will begin with the field events at 4 p.m., followed by the running events at 5:45 p.m.

ASHTON – The Amboy Clippers will participate in the Ashton-Franklin Center Class 1A Regional Baseball Tournament. The Clippers are the fourth seed in the sub-sectional.

AMBOY – The Amboy Lady Clippers will host the Amboy Class 1A Regional Softball Tournament to be held May 13, 14, 15, 17.

Rain and thunderstorms have influenced all baseball schedules this season including Amboy.

The Amboy softball team enters the last three weeks of the regular season with an above .500 record as the Lady Clippers are 8-7 overall and 5-3 in the Northwest Upstate Illini Conference.

MANLIUS – The Amboy Lady Clippers will compete in the Manlius (Bureau Valley) Class 1A Girls’ Sectional Track Meet to be held on Wednesday, May 8 in Manlius. Field events start at 4 p.m. and running events will kick off at 6:30 p.m.

AMBOY – The Amboy baseball team kicked off a double header against Northwest Upstate Illini Conference opponent Eastland with a win, 8-7, on Friday, April 19 but couldn’t hold on in the second contest in a 14-6 defeat.

LANARK – Almost every Lady Clipper recorded a hit or multiple hits against Northern Upstate Illini Conference foe Eastland on Friday, April 19, but so did Eastland, as Amboy fell 16-11.

After a weather related date change, Amboy Central Elementary School was finally able to celebrate and honor former longtime teacher and coach, George W. Mason by renaming the gym, George W. Mason Gymnasium, on Wednesday, April. 10.

If winning close games is considered a measure of being a good team, the Amboy softball team is a solid team indeed as it won three games in the last week by a combined total of four runs.

The Amboy baseball team inches toward a .500 record with a 5-2 victory over Northern Upstate Illini Conference foe Polo on Thursday, April 11 in Polo.

MENDOTA – El Paso-Gridley captured team titles for the boys and the girls in the Mendota Don Gooden Invitational track meet on April 6 at the MHS athletic stadium.

AMBOY – The Amboy softball team won two and lost one in its last three games.

WEST CARROLL – The Amboy baseball team didn’t take long to earn a victory on Thursday, March 28 as the Clippers skunked West Carroll, 10-0, in five innings on the road.

AMBOY – There will be a large gathering at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 10 at Amboy Central Elementary School.

The Amboy-LaMoille wrestlers stepped up their mat game this season and it was recognized by the Northern Upstate Illini Conference All-Conference Team voters.

Weather has shuffled the baseball schedule in March, but the Amboy Clippers were able to play two games last week as they were on the road against Pecatonica on Tuesday, March 19 and in Oregon on Thursday, March 21.

The Lady Clippers are now 2-3 on the season after losing to Pecatonica, 17-5 in four innings, Tuesday, March 19 on the road.

Amboy’s Tevarius Briar finished fourth at the 2024 IKWF State Tournament held March 7-9 at the BMO Center in Rockford. Briar represented Alber Athletics Wrestling Club out of Freeport.

AMBOY –The Amboy boys track and field team has a lot of positives coming into the 2024 season.

AMBOY – After being shut out by Mendota in the first game of the season, the bats of the Amboy baseball team have come alive.

AMBOY – After winning the first two games of the season, the Amboy softball team dropped its last two to start the season at .500 with a 2-2 record.
