Milledgeville and Mendota were on the schedule for the Amboy girls basketball team for their last two games.

Instead of taking it easy against teams with lesser records, the Lady Clippers made sure they came to play and came away with wins of 31 and 32 points.

Against Milledgeville on Friday, Jan. 26, junior Addison Pertell led the way with 12 points to help Amboy win 47-16.

Pertell also had four rebounds and an assist, while juniors Tyrah Vaessen (seven rebounds, three assists) and Emily Sachs had seven points apiece, senior Meave Larson hauled in eight boards and added six points, sophomore Jillian Anderson tallied six points, and senior Elly Jones recorded five points and five rebounds.

On Saturday, Jan. 27, Amboy defeated Mendota 51-19.

Three Lady Clippers scored in double digits as Jones had 14, Larson pitched in 12, and Vaessen added 11. Pertell had seven, Sachs scored three, and junior Kenley Wilson and sophomore Bella Yanos had two apiece.

Larson snagged a game-high eight rebounds, while Vaessen had six steals and six rebounds, Pertell dished eight assists, and Jones secured five steals.
