SHABBONA – The Amboy Clippers closed out the season with a 41-26 setback to Indian Creek in the first round of the Indian Creek Class 1A Boys’ Regional Basketball Tournament on Feb. 19 at Shabbona.
It was a good first half for the Clippers as they led 9-7 after the opening stanza and 17-16 at intermission. Amboy surrendered the lead in the third quarter and trailed 25-24 entering the final frame. In that fourth period, the Clippers connected on just one of 14 shots while the Timberwolves put up 16 points to pull away for the victory.
Connor Simpson led the way for Amboy with 10 points, while Ian Eller finished with nine tallies.
