AMBOY – The Amboy wrestling team met some of the area’s best wrestlers during Friday and Saturday’s, Dec. 8-9, Reaper Classic in Plano.
The Plano wrestling tournament saw sophomore Landon Blanton win at 120 pounds, senior Lucas Blanton was fourth at 174, freshman Ty Florschuetz was fifth at 106, sophomore Chase Montavon was sixth at 126 and freshman Evan Flanagan was sixth at 215.
The day before the Reaper Classic, Thursday, Dec. 7, Amboy traveled to Lena to compete in a triangular with Lena-Winslow and Morrison.
Amboy fell to both squads as Lena-Winslow won 65-9 and Morrison won 54-24.
The Clippers’ nine points against L-W came from a Landon Blanton pinfall victory over Reece Demeter in 3:23 at 12 pounds and an 8-6 decision victory for Montavon over L-W’s 126-pounder Tegan Arnold.
Against Morrison, Amboy earned points from Florschuetz with a forfeit at 106, a pin by Landon Blanton at 120 pounds over Patrick Schaefer in 3:00, a fall at 175 by Lucas Blanton over Caleb Carroll in 3:00, and a pinfall victory at 3:12 by Flanagan over Evan McDonnell at 215.
