AMBOY — Elverta M. "Verdie" Eller, 94, of Amboy, died Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Heritage Health in Mendota. 

She was born Sept. 8, 1926 in Amboy the daughter of Clarence and Bertha (Rogers) Dewey.  Elverta had worked at the Amboy Rug Factory and at Beggs Foods prior to her retirement. She enjoyed crocheting and baking, she always had chocolate chip cookies at her house.

She married William H. "Bill" Eller on Dec. 28, 1950 in Amboy. 

He preceded her in death May 18, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Conway; six brothers, Orville, Earl, Clarence, Kenneth, Roy and Virgil Dewey; and two sisters, Dorothy Bolthaus and Thelma Smith.

Elverta is survived by her granddaughter, Dawn Conway, of Peru, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, March 22, 2021, at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. Burial will follow at Prairie Repose Cemetery in Amboy

Visitation will be on from noon - 2 p.m., on Monday at the funeral home.

A memorial has been established to Heritage Health in Mendota.
