FRANKLIN GROVE — Elsie May Schnell, 85, of Franklin Grove, passed away Friday, Aug. 13, 2021, at Franklin Grove Living and Rehabilitation Center, Franklin Grove.
Elsie worked along side her husband on the family farm for many years prior to their retirement.
Elsie was born Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, 1935, in Ashton, the daughter of Byron and Ella (Eberly) Burdge. She married Howard Schnell on March 3, 1957 in Eldena. He preceded her in death on Aug. 17, 2012.
Elsie was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, Lee Center where she was the church secretary for many years. Elsie enjoyed gardening, playing cards in various card clubs; and also enjoyed going to household sales and auctions and picking pretty dish ware. Her favorite was the green depression glass, which she had an extensive collection.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Charles) Smith; sister, Betty (Edward) Smith; granddaughter, Heather (Bob) Lundeen; and two great-granddaughters, Natalie, Chloe; sister-in-law, Sharon Schnell; five nieces; and special friend, Kim Olson.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents; and two great grandsons.
Visitation will be from 5 - 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Lee Center. Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 20, 2021, at the church with pastor Jack Briggs, officiating. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery in Lee Center.
Memorials may be directed to First Congregational United Church of Christ, Lee Center; Serenity Hospice & Home; and Living History Antique Equipment Association of Franklin Grove.
