Clippers begin season on winning note against Morrison

AMBOY – The Amboy Clippers began the 2022 baseball season on a winning note with a 10-4 triumph over Morrison on March 16 at Parker Field.

The Clippers trailed 4-1 entering the bottom of the fifth, but they sent 13 batters to the plate and scored nine runs in the frame to put the game on ice.

Tucker Lindenmeyer and Haden McCoy both delivered two-run doubles in the fifth, while Andruw Jones had a run-scoring single.

Ian Eller started the game on the mound and threw four innings, earning a no-decision. Jones came on in the fifth and shut the door to earn the win.

Bureau Valley handed the Clippers a 12-2 setback in a March 17 contest at Parker Field. The game was called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Lindenmeyer and Sam Russell had two hits apiece for Amboy, with Russell driving in a run with a single in the third.

Jackson Rogers absorbed the loss for the Clippers. He worked the first three innings and allowed five runs and five hits, striking out three. 

Lindenmeyer finished up on the hill.
