AHS’s Brock Loftus completed the race far ahead of the rest of the field in a time of 16:53. Teammate Kyler McNinch secured the second spot in 17:30, while Andruw Jones was fifth in 18:41 and Wyatt Lundquist took seventh in 18:59. Garrett Pertell (13th, 20:11) and Calvin Deering (17th, 20:53) finished out the Clipper lineup.
“Another meet and another win for the boys, who are 8-1 overall and 8-0 versus 1A competition,” said coach Mike Robinson.
Rockford Lutheran took the girls’ race with 29 points. The host school was second with 43 points and Amboy had 50.
Lauren Althaus paced the Lady Clippers with a third-place finish in a time of 21:00. Also finishing in the top 10 were AHS runners Madelyn McLaughlin (9th, 23:10) and Brittney Mundell (10th, 23:11). Also racing for the Lady Clippers were Bailey Crouch (16th, 24:20) and Brooklyn Whelchel (17th, 24:24).
“The girls all ran very well with four season’s bests on the night,” noted Robinson. “I am proud of both of our teams.”

Amboy hosted Dakota, Stockton and Hinckley-Big Rock on Oct. 8 and both AHS teams came out victorious.
The boys were led by the one-two tandem of Loftus (16:15) and McNinch (17:28), who finished first and second, respectively. Jones came in sixth in a time of 18:32, followed by Lundquist (7th, 18:52), Pertell (9th, 19:25) and Deering (14th, 20:36).
“Everyone looked very strong and relaxed, and we continue to work hard and get better,” said Robinson.
Althaus led the attack for the girls, crossing the finish line in first place in a time of 21:15. AHS also had the second and third runners in McLaughlin (22:43) and Mundell (22:58), while Whelchel (8th, 24:50) and Crouch (10th, 25:00) also competed.
“The three seniors ran great and really gave everything they had,” noted Robinson. “Lauren led from start to finish and never looked back once.”
