ELDENA — Arthur L. Jacobs, Sr., 90, of Eldena, died Saturday, May 6, 2017, in his home. He was born Aug. 20, 1926, in Mount Morris, the son of John and Ruth (Miller) Jacobs.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, in the United First Church in Amboy with the Rev. Mark Glenn, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow with Military Graveside Honors by the Amboy American Legion in Prairie Repose Cemetery in Amboy.  Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., on Tuesday, May 9, in the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. 

He was a carpenter, worked at Dauberts Coated Products in Dixon for 21 years, owned and operated Jake's Place in Amboy prior to his retirement.

Arthur was a Veteran of the Army, and he enjoyed farming.

He married Gladys Glenn in Dixon Nov. 8, 1968. She preceded him in death Oct. 16, 1985. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Diehl and Leola Frey; one brother, Roy Jacobs.

Survivors include his children, Terri (Brent) Erisman, of Leona, Tenn., Arthur (Arlene) Jacobs, Jr., of Eldena, Chris (Connie) Jacobs, of Amboy, Steven (Valerie) Jacobs, of Amboy, Cheryl (Steven) Bowlby, of Parker, Colo., Sandra Lightner, of Dixon, Rhonda (Tony) Balayti, of Eldena, Curtis (An Nhien) Schaefer, of Dixon, and Melody (David) Schrock, of Amboy; 24 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren;  one brother, John W. Jacobs, of Madison, Wis.

A memorial has been established to Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon.
