Lady Clippers defeat Polo, lose to AFC

AMBOY – Amboy’s Lady Clippers took control of the game early and then cruised to a 51-28 triumph over Polo on Jan. 17 at the AHS gym.

The Lady Clippers zoomed out to a 12-4 lead after the first quarter, and then they outscored Polo, 15-3, in the third frame to pull away.

Thirteen players scored for Amboy, led by Abi Payne with nine points. She also dished out five assists. Noelle Jones dropped in eight points and grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds. Also contributing to the win were Breanna Fisher (six points, three rebounds), Kallie Appleman (five points, four rebounds, two steals, two assists), Taylor Stevens (four points, two assists), Kelsey Stewart (three points, four assists), Logan Winters (three points, seven rebounds), Kyleigh Donna (three points), Rachel Lachat (two points, four rebounds, three assists), Hope Sachs (two points), Adriana Bartoschek (two points), Ashley Althaus (two points, two assists) and Mallory Powers (two points, four rebounds).

Amboy hosted Ashton-Franklin Center for the “Pink Game” on Jan. 19 and the Lady Raiders came away with a 50-39 victory.

The Prestegaards proved to be too much for Amboy to handle as Jaynee scored 19 points and Madeline added 16. Six other AFC players also dented the scoring column.

Payne pumped in 11 points and contributed three assists and three steals for the Lady Clippers. Winters supplied eight points and four rebounds, while Powers added six points and five caroms. Also, Appleman and Althaus chipped in with five and four points, respectively.
