The Amboy softball team enters the last three weeks of the regular season with an above .500 record as the Lady Clippers are 8-7 overall and 5-3 in the Northwest Upstate Illini Conference.
On Tuesday, April 23, Amboy lost an 8-7 battle with conference foe Milledgeville on the road.
At the plate, junior Tyrah Vaessen went 2-of-5 with two singles for three RBI, sophomore Peyton Payne was 2-of-3 with two singles, sophomore Alyvia Whelchel was 2-of-4, and sophomore Ellie Mclaughlin hit a home run.
Mclaughlin was the losing pitcher.
Against Forreston on Monday, April 29, Amboy recorded a 12-1 win in five innings to move above .500.
Whelchel was the winning pitcher on six strikeouts, two hits, and four walks. Offensively, she was 1-of-2 with a single and five RBI.
Sophomore Kiera Karlson was 2-of-3 with a single, a double, and an RBI, Payne and junior Haleigh Stenzel tallied two RBI apiece, and sophomore Brittlyn Whitman hit a single and a double for two RBI.
