AMBOY – The Amboy volleyball team started the second week of the season by traveling to Indian Creek where the Clippers were victorious in two sets 25-15, 26-24.
Junior Kiera Karlson had six kills and an ace. Junior Jillian Anderson had four kills and four digs. Senior Tyrah Vaessen added three kills and five digs, senior Emersyn Noble had 13 digs and junior Jadyn Whelchel rounded out the stat book with 14 assists.
The junior varsity team beat Indian Creek in two sets, 25-10, 25-6, while the freshman team got its first win of season in three sets, 25-20, 20-25, 15-10.
The Clippers hosted the Storm of Bureau Valley, but fell short, 23-25 and 13-25 in a non-conference match up.
Vaessen had three kills and 10 digs, Jadyn Whelchel had 9 assists and two aces, Anderson added two kills and 10 digs, and Karlson chipped in three kills.
The junior team won in two close sets, 27-25 and 25-19. The freshman team just fell short in two sets, 23-25,15-25.
On Saturday, Sept. 7, the junior varsity team traveled to West Carroll for a tournament. The morning started with a tough match against Stockton the Clippers lost in two sets, 19-25, 16-25. They played Warren next and fell short in three sets, 21-25, 25-10, 8-15. The Clippers rallied and defeated West Carroll in two sets 25-18, 25-19. Then ended the day with a win over River Ridge in two sets, 25-14, 25-12.
