PRINCETON - Walter J. Hobbs, Sr., 81, of Princeton, formerly of Amboy, died April 23, 2017 at Colonial Health Care and Rehab Center in Princeton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 27 at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy with Fr. Jeffrey Stirniman officiating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Amboy. Visitation will be from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 26 at the funeral home.
Walter was born Feb. 9, 1936 in Amboy to Wilfred and Pauline (Reynolds) Hobbs. He married Roberta Eller in Amboy on Sept. 14, 1957. She preceded him in death on June 27, 2001.
Survivors include four children, Malvina (Bill) Levan of Amboy, Monica (Mike) Acuff of LaMoille, Michael Hobbs of Rochelle and Jeremey (Jodi) Hobbs of Amboy; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; two sons, Walter Hobbs, Jr. and Rodney Hobbs; one daughter, Martha Hobbs; and four grandchildren, Betty, Meredith, Jesse and Travis Levan.
Walter worked for Raynor Garage Doors in Dixon for over 40 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy.
