AMBOY – The Amboy Lady Clippers were in control from start to finish in claiming a 7-1 softball victory over Pecatonica on March 29 at the AHS field.
Amboy scored a run in the bottom of the first and the scored stayed that way until the fifth when the Lady Clippers pushed two more runs across. AHS widened the gap with a four-run sixth.
Pecatonica scored its only run off of winning pitcher Bailee Highbarger in the seventh. Highbarger allowed just one hit, struck out 12 and did not issue a free pass.
Three Lady Clippers had two hits apiece with Kallie Appleman and Summer Bulfer singling and tripling, while Noelle Jones had a pair of singles and an RBI. Dani Hochstatter also swatted a solo home run for Amboy, which is 2-3 overall and 2-2 in league contests.
