AMBOY – The Amboy softball team won two and lost one in its last three games.

More games were scheduled, but were wiped out because of bad weather, which happened to every softball and baseball team throughout northern Illinois.

In the games they were able to play, the Lady Clippers defeated Dixon, 5-0, on March 28, lost to Dakota 14-2 on March 30, and edged Milledgeville, 8-7, on April 4.

Against Dixon, sophomore Ellie Mclaughlin was the winning pitcher with six strikeouts, four walks, and two hits. At the plate, sophomore Kiera Karlson went 2-of-4 with two singles, and sophomore Brittlyn Whitman was 3-of-3 with a double and a single.

In the loss to Dakota, Whitman was the losing pitcher and junior Tyrah Vaessen was 2-of-3 at the plate.

Many bats found the ball for Amboy against Milledgeville. Karlson was 3-of-3 with three singles and two RBI, Vaessen was 2-of-4 with two singles and an RBI, sophomore Peyton Payne tallied a double, a single, and an RBI on 2-of-4 hitting, while junior Haleigh Stenzel was 1-of-4 with a single and three RBIs.

The Lady Clippers are 4-4 heading into a clearer slate of weather forecasts.
