AMBOY – A balanced scoring attack lifted the Amboy Clippers to a 59-55 win over LaMoille in varsity boys’ basketball action on Jan. 18 at the AHS gym.
Three Clippers tallied in double figures, while two others came up one point short of that mark. Hunter Zimmerly led the attack with 15 points, while Logan Whelchel and Preston Henkel supplied 10 points apiece. Mitchell McLaughlin and Trevor Vaessen each chipped in with nine markers.
Amboy hit eight field goals from beyond the three-point arc, with Whelchel, Henkel and Vaessen getting two treys apiece.
Brady Becker poured in 19 points for LaMoille to lead all scorers.
The Lions held a 17-16 lead after the opening stanza, but Amboy fought back to take a 29-28 halftime margin. The Clippers were in front 45-42 heading to the fourth.
