FORRESTON – The Amboy-LaMoille Clippers closed out the 2017 football season with a 54-6 loss at Forreston in a Northwest Upstate Illini Conference game on Oct. 21.
Forreston, the defending Class 1A state champion, took control from the opening kick, scoring 28 first-quarter points and adding 20 more in the second period to take a commanding 48-0 halftime lead. The Clippers tallied their lone touchdown in the fourth frame when Dominic Moore connected with Nolan Lawmorie-Dickey on a 3-yard TD pass.
Amboy-LaMoille had success throwing the football as quarterback Justin Hart completed 12 of 19 passes for 135 yards. Moore had one pass attempt for the Clipper touchdown.
Andrew Gillan had three receptions for 55 yards, Hunter Zimmerly caught three passes for 45 yards and Reece Vaessen added three catches for 23 yards. Moore gained 14 yards on five carries to lead the rushing attack, while Ben Rhine picked up 11 yards in 10 attempts.
Amboy-LaMoille concluded the season with a 3-6 overall record and a 3-5 conference mark.
