AMBOY – At approximately 6:14 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2, deputies from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on U.S. Route 52 near Searls Road south of Amboy.

Multiple felony charges result after traffic stop on Rt. 52 south of Amboy

AMBOYAt approximately 6:14 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2, deputies from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on U.S. Route 52 near Searls Road south of Amboy

K-9 Henry came to the scene and conducted a free air sniff on the vehicle.  A positive alert was obtained for the presence of controlled substances.

As a result of the stop, Jerry W. Juzwiak Jr., 35, of Westmont, has been arrested and charged with the following:

Armed Violence, a Class X Felony

Possession of a Controlled Substance (cocaine) with the Intent to Deliver, a Class 1 Felony

Possession of a Firearm without a Firearm Owner’s Identification Card - Revoked (three counts), a Class 3 Felony

Possession of a Controlled Substance (cocaine), a Class 4 Felony

Possession of Firearm Ammunition without a Firearm Owner’s Identification Card – Revoked (two counts), a Class A Misdemeanor

Juzwiak was ordered to be detained at the Lee County Jail on case number 24 CF 213.
