Fireworks Family Event a Success

AMBOY-The Amboy Fireworks Family Event was held Sunday evening at the Amboy Sports Park. A line of thunderstorms threatened earlier in the day but passed a couple of hours before the event was scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. The event had something everyone and a large crowd turned out to enjoy the free firetruck rides, bounce houses, food, music and fireworks.

Firehouse of God Ministries, of Sterling, provided free firetruck rides from the park, around the downtown area and back. Children waiting for a ride played at the two bounces houses and got pictures taken standing in side a fireman cutout.

3-D Sound Company kept things upbeat with music of all kinds while the crowd staked out prime spots for the fireworks display and a food stand, staffed by Grace Fellowship Church members, provided the crowd with options to satisfy their hunger and thirst.

The 2018 Amboy Summer Concert Series was held simultaneously at the bandstand in downtown and the concert-goers enjoyed Eileen Quest's renditions of great female country artists. The next concert in the series will feature Jim Henkel on Saturday, July 28, at 7 p.m.
