Casino Night to help “Save Our Steeple”

AMBOY – Over the last year Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy has held many fundraising events in part of its “Save Our Steeple” project as the church’s roof was in bad shape.

Through the fundraisers, donations, and generosity of the community and those who once were in Amboy, have moved on, but still support their home turf, St. Patrick’s was able to raise the $309,000 needed for the main roof of the church and it has already been replaced.

Now, the parish is holding fundraisers such as a Casino Night from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17 at the Amboy Community Center to raise $90,000 needed for the roofs of the steeples.

“We have a lot of things going. There will be something for everyone. If people want to play Poker, they can,” said Carol Prunty, the parish’s bookkeeper who added 23 percent of the $90,000 has been collected. “If someone wants to come and eat dinner after 4 p.m. but before 6 p.m., they can come to the food truck. We have many options for our Casino Night.”

The two food trucks serving food two hours before the event and during the Casino Night are Deebo’s Food Truck and Farmer’s Smoked BBQ.

Once the doors open at 6 p.m., Craps, Roulette, Blackjack, and Poker tables will be ready. There will not be cash exchanged as monetary value will be in tickets.

Fundraiser attendees will pay $30 at the door to participate and will be given $50 worth of chips to play. The winnings will be dispersed in prize tickets. There will be a prize for the top winner and door prizes as well.

Other activities during the Casino Night are a 50/50 raffle, a silent auction, and a dessert bar.
