AMBOY — Amboy School High School presents “Phantom of the Country Opera” March 13, 14, and 15 at Amboy High School.

“Phantom of the Country Opera” is comedic, country western adaptation of the infamous masked opera ghost and his muse originally portrayed in the Broadway production of “Phantom of the Opera”.

Chrissy, played by AHS sophomore Angela Daszkiewicz, has spent her singing career at the Opera, but in an unfortunate turn of events, finds herself back in Nashville to take care of her mother’s affairs. She is greeted by The Country Palace janitor Aaron (AHS junior Dashad Greene) and a cast of characters all looking for their big break in the capital of country music. But the reigning queen of country music Sally Barker played by AHS junior Erin Latta isn’t keen on Chrissy’s Nashville debut.

Featuring more than 30 AHS and Amboy Junior High School students and a full pit orchestra, the musical is directed on stage by Amy Schwamberger. The music director is Travis Kemmerer.

Tickets go on sale to the public March 3-13, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Amboy High School and will also be available at the door the night of performances, March 13 and 14, 7 p.m. and March 15, 2 p.m.

“Phantom of the Country Opera” is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International and was originally produced at Marriott’s Lincolnshire Theater, executive director Kary Walker and artistic director Dyanne Earley. The book was written by Sean Grennan and Kathy Santen, music by Michael Duff and lyrics by Cheryl Coons.
