AMBOY – Amboy High School’s Class of 1964 held its 60th class reunion Saturday, August 24 at Shady Oaks Country Club.

The reunion had 45 in attendance as 27 classmates traveled from as far as Canada, Florida, Wisconsin, Missouri, North Carolina, Colorado and various parts of Illinois.

A social hour and pictures preceded dinner catered by the Candlelight Inn, which featured chicken breast Marco Polo and herb/garlic pork loin with all the trimmings. A cake, made by Amy Wittenauer, with a picture of the old high school was enjoyed.

A class memory table honored 25 class members who passed away. They include:  Don Albrecht, Karla (Hicks) Beck, Ed Blake, Dan Burkhardt, Pat (Sherrard) Burke, Jo Anne (North) Edwards, Larry Frye, Mary Ann (Newman) Gould, John Hardy, Ruth (Renken) Kjellgren, Dick Latta, Norm Leffelman, Ken Levan, John Lusz, Larry Masters, Pat O’Brien, Rodney Oberschelp, Sara (Sullivan) Pacione, Don Richards, Jim Seloover, Lynda (Webb) Smith, Robert Sutton, Bonnie Trouth, Donna (Schuhler) Vaessen, and Barbara (VanNatta) Rhine.

John Spenader acted as MC for the evening. Following dinner, an evening of rekindling old friendships was enjoyed by all.

Preceding the reunion on Saturday night, 35 class members and guests enjoyed a fun evening with dinner at the Long Branch and the Amboy Depot Days activities.
