AMBOY — Due to continuing restrictions on public gatherings, local Fourth of July events have been canceled. But all is not lost!

For The Adults

Show your patriotism, your good taste, your decorating prowess or just have fun by entering the 2020 Patriotic Decorating Contest. This contest is sponsored by Amboy Food and Liquor, The City of Amboy, and The Amboy News.

Residents are encouraged to upload a photo of their house decorated for the Fourth of July. One entry per address. Exterior theme, all decorations must be visible to the street. Residents must reside in the following zip codes: 61310, 61318, 61324, 61331, 61367 and 61378

Deadline: Entries are being accepted now and should be uploaded before 5 p.m., Saturday, June 27, for entry.

Voting: Voting begins online at 5:01 p.m., on Saturday, June 27 and remains open until 5 p.m., on Sunday, July 5.

Winners: Winners will be announced in the July 8th edition of the Amboy News. Prizes will be awarded to the top two residential entries.

For The Kids

A Fourth of July coloring contest is featured in today’s newspaper on page A7. This contest is sponsored by Amboy Food and Liquor, The City of Amboy, and The Amboy News.

All children 10 years old and younger are invited to color the Fourth of July scene and submit it to Amboy Food and Liquor for a chance to win fabulous prizes.

One Entry Per Child.

Entries must be received at Amboy Food and Liquor by 5 p.m., on Tuesday, June 23. All coloring pages will be hung in the window of the grocery store and issued an entry number. The public is invited to vote for the winner between Wednesday, June 24 and Wednesday, July 1 at the grocery store by voting for a certain entry number. Winners will be announced in the July 8th edition of the Amboy News.

Prizes are awarded for the top 5 places.
