Susan was born Dec. 17, 1968, in Dixon, the daughter of Donald and Janice (Rutherford) Kessel.  She married Matt Emmole on Sept. 16, 1988, in Dixon.

Susan was a loving mother to her four children. They were her pride and joy. She loved children and they were drawn to her loving nurturing nature. Susan truly had a heart of gold and was a joy to everyone she knew. Her two granddaughters were so dear to her. She cherished spending time with them when they had sleepovers at grandma Susan’s house.  She was the youngest of five kids and was Donnie Kessel’s baby girl. Susan took great pride in being a mother and her home was a welcome happy place to all of the kids’ friends and all of her nieces and nephews. Susan was a wonderful friend and wife to Matt for 27 years, and God blessed them with a wonderful family. She was truly a beautiful woman inside and out. Her family has peace knowing how much she loved Jesus.

She is survived by the father of her children, Matt Emmole; one daughter, Vanessa Emmole; three sons, Ben Emmole, Nicholas Emmole, and Josh Emmole; her father, Donald Kessel, all of Dixon; two brothers, John (Sue) Kessel and Patrick (Barb) Kessel, both of Traverse City, Mich.; two sisters, Kelly (John) Nitkey, of St. Charles and Sara (Randy) Ortgiesen, of Dixon; and two granddaughters, Maddison Emmole and Bostin Rodriguez.

Susan was preceded in death by her mother, Janice Kessel.
