AMBOY — Marlene A. Greskiwcz, 69, of Amboy, died Friday Sept. 8, 2017 in her home following a courageous battle with ALS.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017 beginning with an 11 a.m. prayer service in the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home followed by an 11:30 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy with the Rev. Timothy Draper officiating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery in Amboy. Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 12 from in the funeral home with the Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Memorials will be established to Teen Turf and St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Amboy.
She was born on Oct. 30, 1947, in Amboy, the daughter of Paul and Anna Louise (Kraus) Boehle. She was a teacher, first teaching at Harlem High School in Loves Park, then substitute teaching in Amboy. She retired from Amboy Jr. High in 2012. Marlene also taught various math courses at Sauk Valley Community College and worked for Boehle Implements.
Marlene was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy, a board member of Teen Turf, and served as a leader of the Young Seekers 4-H Club for many years.
She married Robert J. Greskiwcz in Amboy on Aug. 7, 1971. Marlene was preceded in death by her husband on May 18, 2009 and her parents.
Survivors include her daughters, Lisa (Dustin) Smith, Lori (Ryan) Short, Cindy Greskiwcz (Jason Hartzler), all of Normal, her son, Chad (Becky) Greskiwcz, of Ballwin, Mo.; her six grandsons, Benjamin and Alex Smith and Brendan and Andrew Short, all of Normal, and Jacob and James Greskiwcz of Ballwin, Mo.; her two sisters, Marjorie (Chuck) Frieders, of Belvidere and Janice Boehle, of Geneva; and several nieces and nephews.
