FRANKLIN GROVE — Laura "Opal" Schaneberg, 92, of Franklin Grove, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019, at KSB Hospital in Dixon. 

Opal was born on June 23,1926 in Amboy to William H. and Laura (Rogers) Glenn. She attended Amboy schools. She married William C. Schaneberg on May 12,1951 in Rochelle. She has lived in the Franklin Grove area for over 50 years.

She was a wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandma, great-grandma, and a great-great grandma. She enjoyed playing her organ, sewing, cooking for family and friends, most of all she loved her family.

She is survived by her husband, William "Bill"; two sons, Calvin Schaneberg, of Franklin Grove and Phil (Judy) Schaneberg, of Rochelle; four grandchildren, Willy (Heather) Schaneberg, Chrissy (Mark) Smardo, Devan (Frankie) Duncan, Brandon (Brittany) Schaneberg; seven great-grandchildren and three great-great grand babies; two brothers, Russell Glenn, of Dixon and Howard Glenn, of Amboy;  one sister, Doris Ail, of Amboy.

Opal was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Tony Schaneberg; four brothers, Wilbur, Alvin, Gail, and Ralph Glenn; and three sisters, Letha Poulos, Bonnie Ruble, and Lola Ponto.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019, in the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy with the Rev. Mark Glenn, officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Repose Cemetery in Amboy.

Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 p.m., on Tuesday, Feb. 5, in the funeral home.
