DIXON – John E. "Jack" Dempsey, 76, of Dixon died Tuesday July 25, 2017 at KSB Hospital in Dixon.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, July 31, 2017, 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon. Burial of cremains will be at a later date at Desert Lawn Memorial Gardens in Mohave Valley, Ariz. A luncheon will follow Monday's service at the Dixon Elks Lodge and all are invited.
He was born Dec. 3, 1940 in Dixon the son of John J. and Marcella (O'Brien) Dempsey. Jack married Sharon Lynn Holtzhauer on Jan. 12, 1957 in Dixon.
Jack is survived by his wife Sharon; children Dennis (Ronda Hicks) Dempsey of Dixon, Daniel (Annette) Dempsey of Sachse, Texas, and Lynn (Keith) Miller of Harmon; 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; three sisters, Patricia (Donald) Brown of Lena, Sally Earp of Rockford and Mary Jo Youngmark of Oswego.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William and Robert Dempsey.
He had farmed for 40 years prior to his retirement. After retiring he and Sharon moved to Bullhead City, Ariz., where he was a Blackjack dealer at the Avi Resort Casino.
He was a 50-year member of the Dixon Elks Lodge 779.
