DIXON — Jean Elizabeth Opperman, 55, of Dixon, went to be with her heavenly father on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017, at Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon. She was a manager at Rayovac in Dixon.

Jean was born April 22, 1962, in Rockford, the daughter of Robert D. and Florence E. (Morgan) Opperman. She enjoyed reading, collecting turtle figurines, but most of all bringing joy to her family and friends.

She is survived by her significant other, Donald Gibson, of Dixon; her parents, Robert and Florence Opperman, of Sun City Center, Fla.; one brother, Karl (Charlotte) Opperman, of Tombstone, Ariz.; two sisters, Dona (Howard) Diehl, of Wheaton and Sue (Doug) Medearis, of Rockford; her mother-in-law, Shirley Peterson, of Dixon; one brother-in-law, Milo (Laurie) Gibson, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Marv Gibson.

A visitation with be held from 4 – 5 p.m., on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017 at the Dixon Elks Lodge followed by a Celebration of Life at 5 – 6 p.m., with Howard Diehl, officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to Granny Rose Animal Shelter, Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon, and the American Cancer Society.
