OREGON — Eugene E. Ketchum, 69, of Oregon and formerly of Amboy, died Thursday April 5, 2018 at Oregon Living and Rehab. Center in Oregon.
He was born Sept. 25, 1948, in Amboy, the son of Perry and Doris (McLindsay) Ketchum.
He had been a millwright at Northwestern Steel and Wire in Sterling for 27 years prior to retirement.
Gene was a veteran of the Army and served in Germany during the Vietnam War.
He married Jean Lake on Sept. 15, 1990, in Dixon. She preceded him in death Feb. 25, 2008. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one son, Joseph Ketchum and one grandson, Coleman Perry Ketchum.
Gene is survived by one son, Joshua Ketchum, of Rock Falls; three grandchildren, Gabby Ketchum, Mackenzie Ketchum and Keegan Oltmans; and one brother, Rick (Kathy) Ketchum, of Amboy.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., on Monday April 9, 2018 at the Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. Visitation will be on Monday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial of cremains with Military Honors will follow in Prairie Repose Cemetery in Amboy.
