DIXON — Edith “Irene” Cossairt, 78, of Dixon, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, at Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital in Dixon.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m., until time of funeral services at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at Northside Baptist Church in Dixon, with the Rev. Daniel Bentz, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Park Cemetery in Columbus, KS, at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017.

Irene was born Dec. 3, 1938, in Columbus, Kansas, the daughter of Leonard Richard and Edith Edna (Coble) Jarrett. She married Earnest Cossairt on Nov. 15, 1956. Irene enjoyed mowing her yard, had a passion for animals, but most of all loved being a wife and best friend to her husband.

She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Earnest “Ray” Cossairt, of Dixon; two daughters, Vickie (Robert) Yearian, of Walnut and Debbie (William) Alvine, of Longwood, Fla.; one son, Michael R. Cossairt, of Rossville, Ga.; three brothers, Leonard (Avis) Jarrett, of Charles City, Iowa, Lloyd Richard (Connie) Jarrett, of Clinton, Iowa, and Leroy Ralph (May) Jarrett, of Camanche, Iowa; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Larry Jarrett.

A memorial has been established.

Arrangements are being completed by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon.
