FRANKLIN GROVE - Donald E. Hillison, 92, of Franklin Grove, passed away at Generations at Neighbors, Byron, on Jan. 29, 2021.

Don was born January 25, 1929, in Amboy, the son of Henry E. and Mildred (Gleim) Hillison. He attended school in Lee Center. Don married the love of his life, Dorothy J. Hussey on Sept. 14, 1948 at First Presbyterian Church in Franklin Grove and have been happily married for 72 years.

He was a life-long farmer in Franklin Grove area raising corn, soybeans and Charolais Cattle. Don enjoyed traveling with his wife and several very close friends. He especially enjoyed hunting and being a life-time member of the Ferrell's Northwinds Goose Club in Marian.

Don was a devoted husband to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He spent many hours sitting on hardwood bleachers supporting local teams, his grandchildren and great-grandaughters.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Tom (Susan) Hillison and Susan (Dave) Coers; grandchildren, Angie (John) Shrimplin, Shane Coers, Krista (Zach) Finifrock, Scott (Ellie) Hillison; great-grandchildren, Emily Shrimplin, Callie Jo Shrimplin, Henry Finifrock; and brother, Delbert (Connie) Hillison.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Fern Josephson and Marilyn Engelbarts.

A graveside service will be at held 11 a.m., on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021 with Pastor Jack Briggs, officiating at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
