DIXON – Collin Matthew Francois, 13, of Dixon, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017, at Mercyhealth Hospital in Rockford.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., on Wednesday, Aug. 9, at the Dixon High School Auditorium. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, at the Auditorium with Pastor Jack Briggs, officiating. Burial will be a Silver Creek Cemetery in Mt. Morris.
Collin was born Dec. 1, 2003, in Rockford, the son of Jessica Marie Francois.
He is survived by his mother, Jessica Marie Francois; two brothers, Zachery and Wesley Johnson, all of Dixon; maternal grandparents, Nancy Heminghous of Port Wentworth, Ga., Dave (Emely) Francois of Coppersburg, Pa.; great grandmother, Shirley Francois; one aunt, Valarie (Aaron) Wiles of Boomingdale, Ga.; one uncle, Andrew Francois of Marietta, Ga.; and two cousins, Brooke and Alexandra Wiles. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his grandpa, Michael Heminghous; and great grandparents, LeRoy Deneau, Ruth Deneau and Elmer Francois.
He was a seventh grader at Reagan Middle School in Dixon.
He had a passion for sports and participated in football, baseball, wrestling, and track. Collin was very active and loved being outdoors, especially fishing.
