AMBOY – The Amboy-LaMoille Clippers can breathe a sigh of relief after notching their first win of the season, 25-8, over Milledgeville on Oct. 18 at the AHS field.
It was the Austin Norman show for the Clippers as he scored all four touchdowns, starting with a 30-yard TD run just over a minute into the game. Maxim Ryjov booted the extra point.
The game remained 7-0 until the 5:29 mark of the second period when Norman sprinted 90 yards to the end zone to give the Clippers a 13-0 halftime lead.
Norman tacked on two more touchdowns in the third frame as Amboy-LaMoille opened up a 25-0 lead. The senior running back found paydirt on runs of 34 and 23 yards.
Milledgeville avoided the shutout by scoring with 43 seconds left in the game.
Norman ran the ball 19 times for 238 yards in helping the Clippers to 320 total yards in the contest. A-L’s defense permitted 213 yards to the Missiles.
The Clippers (1-7, 1-4 NUIC South Division) will conclude the season when they travel to Ashton-Franklin Center (0-8) on Friday, Oct. 25. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
