DIXON — Carolyn A. "Nan" Montavon, 72, of Dixon died Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at her home.  She was born Dec. 1, 1948 in Amboy, the daughter of Donald and Dorothy (Oester) Friel. Nan worked at numerous local restaurants over the years most recently at the Walton Tap.

She married David L Montavon on April 19, 1969, at St Mary Catholic Church, in Tiskilwa.

Nan was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Kathleen Moats; and four brothers, Bernard, John, Richard and Delmar Friel.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, David; two children, Brandi (Jim Pierce) Montavon, of Amboy and Dominic Montavon, of Kailua Kona, Hawaii; one granddaughter, Riley Pierce, of Amboy; sisters, Elizabeth Potts, of Dixon, Margarite Kuchenbecker, of Benton, Ky., Rose Woodyatt, of Fulton, Karen O'Neill, of Tiskilwa, Regina Kunde, of Dixon, Barbara (Jay) Perry, of Tiskilwa; brothers, Donald (Sandra) Friel Jr., of Tiskilwa, Gerald Friel, of Tiskilwa, Robert (Susan) Friel, of Tiskilwa, David Friel, of Tiskilwa and Stephen (Deb Kirly) Friel, of Princeton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m., on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at St. Mary Church in Walton, with a scripture service at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Church in Walton. Cremation will follow with a burial of cremains at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon to be held at a later date. A memorial has been established. Arrangements by the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy.
