AMBOY — Anthony C. "Tony" Koch, 57, of Amboy, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born Oct. 7, 1960, in Amboy, the son of Charles and Karlene (Blake) Koch. He was the Animal Control Officer for the City of Amboy for over 25 years. He also had worked various positions for Amboy CUSD #272, as well as at Dixon State School.
Tony was a longtime member of Amboy ESDA; St Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy, and the Amboy Jaycees. During the Christmas Holidays, he had also played Santa Claus.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two great nieces, Lila and Emery; several aunts and uncles.
Survivors include four sisters, Kristine (Greg) Welker, of Polo, Joan (Terry) Brunt, of Amboy, Angela Koch, of Cowgill, Mo., and Laura (Mark) Hicks, of Amboy; one brother Daniel (Laurie) Koch, of Amboy; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; and many special friends who helped him throughout his life.
A gathering of family and friends for food and fellowship will be held from 4 – 7 p.m., on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, at the Amboy Community Building. A celebration of life will commence at 6 p.m., with Pastor Brian McWethy officiating, which will include a time of remembrance for anyone wishing to share memories. Cremation rites have been accorded, and private burial of cremains will be held at St. Patrick Cemetery in Amboy at a later date. A memorial has been established to Amboy Fire Department.
