AMBOY — Hunter Zimmerly was brilliant on the mound in leading Amboy to a 3-0 triumph over Polo in a varsity conference baseball contest on April 2 at City Park.
Zimmerly fired a two-hitter and mowed down 15 Polo batters via strikeout in the route-going performance. He did not issue a walk.
Zimmerly also helped his own cause at the plate with two hits, including a first inning solo home run. He also had a single. Hayden Montavon and Mitchell McLaughlin also singled twice for the Clippers.

The Clippers dropped a close 5-4 decision at Somonauk on April 6.
Amboy scored a pair of runs in the first and second innings to grab a 4-0 lead, but Somonauk scored four runs in the fifth to tie the game and pushed across the game-winner in the sixth.
Clayton Kemp rapped out two singles and a double for the Clippers, while Preston Henkel had a single and a double.
McLaughlin got the start on the hill for Amboy and was relieved by Logan Whelchel, who took the loss.
